There are a number of different tests that are administered at Fluvanna County High School, and they are used for a variety of purposes. Below are various tests that are administered, along with an explanation of the tests and their functions. Some of the tests must be taken to graduate from high school and earn a diploma, other are used to assess progress in various subject matter areas, others prepare students for college testing, some determine whether it is possible to earn college credit in addition to high school credit, and some determine eligibility to take Dual Enrollment courses with Piedmont Virginia Community College.

Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests present students with engaging, age-appropriate content. As the student responds to questions, the test responds to the student, adjusting up or down in difficulty. The result is a rewarding experience for the student, and a wealth of detailed information for teachers, parents, and administration.

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test can "help you take steps towards finding a career that's right for you." A student cant benefit from taking this test whether planning a career in the military or entering the workforce right after high school.

College Testing
Advanced Placement Testing
AP Exams are taken at the end of certain rigorous college level courses that are taken at the high school level. Depending upon the college and the score on this exam, a student may be able to earn college credit. To see more about these test and available AP exam, click on the link above.
SAT
This test is used by colleges to aid in the admissions process. The scores are earned in Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing. Each test earns a score of between 200 and 800. The student must submit these scores directly from College Board to the colleges that they are considering applying to, as they are used along with the student's high school transcript. Students may also select to take a Writing test. These results range from 1 to 36 on each of the various testing area. The student must send these scores directly from the testing agency to the colleges they plan on applying to, thus ensuring that they will be accepted and reviewed during the admissions process. Dual Enrollment Testing
Fluvanna County High School works with Piedmont Virginia Community College to offer Dual Enrollment courses that provide students the opportunity to earn college credits at the same time they are earning high school credits. Entrance into these classes is based upon passage of the VPT testing in Mathematics and English. Log on to www.college.measuredsuccess.com to take a sample test and see what you need to do now to do well on this test. The scores on this test will carry forward to various Community Colleges in Virginia, and if you pass the test and begin taking classes in high school, these credits may transfer to the Community College with you after high school graduation.
